A Passion For Scrappin Retreats Home Events Vendors

Who Am I?

A Little About Me . I have been married 32 years to my wonderful husband. We have three children, two wonderful son-in-laws, (and a 3rd soon-to-be son-in-law). We have eight grandchildren.

Upon becoming empty nesters, I returned to school to further my education in Early Childhood Education. I am a Teacher and a professional photographer for which I have received awards for my work.

I have been Scrapbooking for over 20 years. Many scrapbooks have been completed over the years including the births of my children and grandchildren, graduations, weddings, vacations and holidays. Each of my family members has a “never ending” album dedicated specially for them. My collection of scrapbooking supplies and tools have grown to take over 3 rooms of my house! My life passions are family, children and preserving the memories, and I look forward to helping you with your memories.

What is Scrapbooking?

There is no right or wrong way to scrapbook. You are limited only by your imagination. Scrapbook pages can include several photos with captions, to a single page that includes one photo enhanced by the use of embellishments, journaling, stickers, punches, etc.

Getting started in scrapbooking does not have to be a big investment. Items such as ticket stubs from the movie theater, love notes from your boyfriend or girlfriend, coasters from that romantic weekend hotel, etc., help make pages look more sentimental and interesting. There are literally thousands of scrapbooking products on the market. Local trade magazines and internet “how-to” sites are good resources for listings of products. Of course, you can visit your local scrapbooking retailer.

Scrapbook Retreats, such as “A Passion For Scrappin’ Retreats”, are gaining popularity and is an excellent way to share ideas and gain advise from other scrappers. Retreats typically have products available for use during the retreat, product demonstrations, products for sale, and most importantly, experts on hand to assist and teach the latest and greatest techniques. Retreats are structured for the beginners and pros alike.

There are elaborate tools that can add interesting effects to a scrapbook, but simple pages often have the most impact.  Basic scrapbooking tools include scissors, paper, photographs, and glue.  As you progress into more advanced techniques, you can purchase cut outs, stencils, colorful pens, templates, die cuts, stickers, etc.

Instead of just placing photographs in an album, a scrapbooker aims to capture the feeling and the mood associated with their memories.  When you look at a page in a photo album, you see a few photographs, but when you enjoy the pages of a well-executed scrapbook, you are transported back to that moment.
